Sichuan Mahjong
The fast, fierce mahjong of Chengdu teahouses: swap three, declare a void suit, and keep fighting after someone wins. Three AI opponents, scoring done for you.
Grandma will show you!
One tile to go!
Real blood-battle rules
108 tiles, swap three (換三張), a void suit (定缺), pung and kong only — and the hand goes on until three players have won.

Fair AI opponents
Three levels from beginner to sharp. The computer never sees your tiles or the wall — every deal is a fair shuffle.

Hints & auto scoring
See which tiles you are waiting on and how many are left. Every win shows its fan, and every kong payment is tallied for you.

How to play Sichuan mahjong
Learn blood battle in four steps, with Grandma.
-
I’ll pass these three!1Swap three
After the deal, pick three tiles of one suit and pass them on in the direction the dice decide.
-
No dots for me!2Pick a void suit
Choose one suit to give up. Discard all of it first — you can’t win while you still hold any.
-
Pung!3Pung & kong
Claim any discard to pung or kong — but there is no chow. Kongs are paid on the spot.
-
I won! Play on!4Blood battle
A win doesn’t end the hand: the others play on until three have won or the wall runs out.
Pick your game length
From a five-minute single hand to an eight-hand session.
- Easy — Plays loosely and calls everything. Good for learning.
- Normal — Swaps and voids sensibly, plays for speed and counts the tiles it can see.
- Hard — Reads the ready-looking players, never feeds a void suit, and picks the widest waits.
The full rules
- Only characters, dots and bamboo are used — 108 tiles, no winds, dragons or flowers. Each player holds 13 tiles; the dealer starts with 14.
- Swap three (換三張): everyone passes three tiles of one suit to another player, in the direction the dice decide.
- Pick a void suit (定缺): you must discard every tile of that suit before you can win, and you may never win holding one.
- Draw and discard as usual. You may pung or kong any discard, but there is no chow. Win with four sets and a pair, or seven pairs.
- Blood battle (血戰到底): a winner leaves the hand and the others play on, until three players have won or the wall runs out. Several players may win on one discard.
- A win is worth base × 2^fan, up to the cap. Kongs are paid on the spot (刮風下雨). If the wall runs out, players with a void tile pay (查花豬) and players not ready pay those who are (查大叫).
The tiles
Characters (萬), dots (筒) and bamboo (條) run 1 to 9, four of each — 108 tiles in all. With only three suits and no honors, one-suit hands come up far more often than in other styles.
Scoring (fan)
Fan add together. Each fan doubles the payment: 0 fan = ×1, 1 = ×2, 2 = ×4, 3 = ×8. Totals above the cap count as the cap.

Kong payments (刮風下雨)
Kongs are paid the moment they are made, in base units. A player who is not ready when the wall runs out gives this money back (退稅).
| Exposed kong (直槓) | 2 from the discarder |
| Added kong (刮風) | 1 from each player |
| Concealed kong (下雨) | 2 from each player |
Beginner tips
- Clear your void suit first. The sooner it’s gone the better — holding it at the end makes you a “flower pig”.
- When swapping, pass on your weakest suit, then pick your void after you see what comes back.
- With only three suits, one-suit hands are common. If one suit fills your hand, go for a full flush.
- Remember everyone’s void suit: nobody can win on a tile of their own void suit.

Beginner guideQuestions
How is Sichuan mahjong different from other mahjong?
It uses only the three suits (108 tiles), there is no chow, every player must declare a void suit and clear it, and in blood battle the hand keeps going after someone wins. Scores double with every fan.
Is it really free? Do I need an account?
Yes, it is free and there is no sign-up. Everything runs in your browser and your progress is saved on this device.
Does the computer cheat?
No. The AI only knows its own hand and what is on the table, the same as you. The wall is shuffled once at the start of each hand and never changed.
What happens after I win?
Your hand is laid open and you sit out the rest of the hand. The others keep playing; if one of them self-draws later, you no longer pay. The hand ends when three players have won or the wall is empty.
What are 查花豬 and 查大叫?
When the wall runs out, anyone still holding a tile of their void suit is a “flower pig” and pays everyone else the capped amount. Anyone who is not ready pays each ready player the biggest hand that player could have won.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. It works on phones, tablets and computers. On a phone, landscape gives the biggest tiles.
