Deal-in After a Kong (Gang Shang Pao) in Sichuan Mahjong: Fan, Kong Transfer and Odds
In Sichuan mahjong, a deal-in after a kong (槓上炮, gang shang pao) adds 1 fan: another player konged, drew a replacement tile from the wall, and the tile they discard next is your winning tile. You get 1 fan more and the discarder pays — and with call transfer on (this site's default), all the money their kong just collected goes to you as well.

The rules for a deal-in after a kong
- Another player has just konged (exposed, upgraded or concealed) and drawn a replacement
- The tile they discard next is the one you win on (a discard win, not a self-draw)
- If they win on the replacement themselves, that's their win after a kong
- Like every Sichuan win, you can't hold your void suit
Call transfer: the kong money moves to the winner
A kong collects its money on the spot ("wind and rain"), but if the konger deals in right away, that kong's whole payment goes to the winner:
| Kong type | Kong payment on the spot | After the deal-in |
|---|---|---|
| Concealed ("rain") | 2 units from each player still in | all transferred to the winner |
| Upgraded ("wind") | 1 unit from each player still in | all transferred to the winner |
| Exposed | 2 units from the discarder | all transferred to the winner |
- With several winners on the same tile, the kong money goes only to the first one (counting from the player after the discarder)
- Call transfer is a rule option you can switch off in settings; without it, the deal-in after a kong is just 1 fan more
- Kong money that has already been transferred isn't refunded again at the end-of-hand ready check
How a deal-in after a kong is scored
Fan add up, and each extra fan doubles the payment, up to the cap of 4 fan. The hands below are scored live by the same code the game uses (the transferred kong money comes on top).

| + root | 2 | 4 units |
| + Seven Pairs | 3 | 8 units |
| + pure one suit | 3 | 8 units |
How it relates to other hands
- Win after a kong: same replacement tile — if the konger wins on it, it's their win after a kong (everyone pays); if it's discarded and you win, it's a deal-in after a kong (they pay alone and transfer the kong money).
- Robbing a kong: an upgrade robbed before it stands; the deal-in after a kong happens after the kong stands and the replacement is discarded.
- Last-tile discard: if the replacement was the last tile and the discard deals in, both fan add.
- Seven Pairs: Seven Pairs can't kong, but it can win on someone else's after-kong discard.

Before you kong
- You'll have to discard after the replacement: if it's useless, out it goes. With no safe tiles left, think before you kong.
- Call transfer turns kong money into risk: a concealed kong collects from three players, and one deal-in hands it all over — plus the win.
- When others are ready: winning on a tile discarded right after a kong is 1 fan plus kong money; when you kong, the others are waiting for the same chance.
- Already ready? Kong. The replacement might self-draw (a win after a kong); if it's useless, discarding it is no riskier than usual.
