Basic rules
Swap three and the void suit
Swap three tiles, then choose a suit to throw away. Clear it first — you can never win holding it.
Swap three
After the deal, all four players at the same time choose three tiles to swap:
- The three must be from one suit (say, three dots).
- The direction comes from the dealer’s dice: a remainder of 1 when divided by 3 passes to the right, 2 to the left, and 0 across. The dice screen tells you.
- Tiles move only when all four have chosen; the three you receive are marked.
Which three to pass
The usual plan: take the suit you want least and pass its three most useless tiles.
You might get tiles of another suit back, or more of the same, so decide the void suit after the swap. “Suggest” picks the way the Normal computer would.
The void suit
After the swap, everyone declares one suit to throw away (the void suit). Name tags and the center screen show each player’s choice. From then on:
- Your void-suit tiles must be discarded first. While you hold any, you can only discard those.
- You may not pung or kong void-suit tiles.
- You cannot win while holding a void-suit tile, and the winning tile cannot be one either.
Which suit to void
Usually the suit with the fewest tiles — the sooner it is gone, the better. If two are tied, drop the scattered one without pairs or near-sets.
Each void button shows how many tiles of that suit you hold, and the suggested one is highlighted.
The flower pig
If the wall runs out and you still hold a void-suit tile, you are a flower pig and pay every other player the capped amount. So always clear your void suit. The pig check and the other end-of-hand payments are in Scoring.
